A Whole New World
While my family and I lived in Singapore we got a chance to visit some pretty exotic tropical destinations. Bali was our favorite but we also really enjoyed Tioman, Malaysia. Though our children were young we outfitted them all with snorkeling gear and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the reefs. Our youngest at the time was only two. He rode on my back. Ever since then we’ve dreamed of taking it a step further and learning to scuba. This summer we’re finally going to make it happen.
My wife and I and our three teenage sons started scuba lessons this month. So far the new world is a world of new acronyms like BCD, RGB, DCS. We’ve done two pool dives so far. Given that we’re landlocked in Arizona our open water dive will take place in Lake Pleasant. I’ll let you know if we survive.
Most important rule of scuba? Never hold your breath.
